Maple Walnut Cupcakes

Today we went to a local maple syrup festival--plenty of maple candy, maple cotton candy, and litres and litres of maple syrup. Plus, there was plenty of small town fun to be had as well: horse drawn wagon rides, local music, Amish baking, and arts and crafts booths. We had a great time, stuffed ourselves with maple treats, and brought home several litres of syrup. Tonight we went to an end-of-year BBQ at a colleague's house and brought (what else?) these maple walnut cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. They are awesome.

Mmmmm, your cupcakes look soo good. Maple syrup is great on pancakes and in baking.
I always think of Canada when I buy maple syrup in the store.
The festival looked like a lot of fun for the whole family; I wish we could have something like that around here!

I've been eyeing the maple walnut cupcakes in VCTOTW. I really do thing everything tastes better with pure, dark maple syrup: oatmeal, tofu, tempeh, cookies, and the list goes on!

Amish baking? You make me curious!

Oh man....I haven't bought any maple syrup since this time last year. I'm thinking maybe it's time to shop for some...I have to be careful though, cuz I can snarf maple butter and maple sugar by the pound. (That's one of the many reasons I was a fat little kid.)

I'm jealous of all that maple syrup! It's probably a helluva lot cheaper than what we can get it for around here :(

And of course I really must try those cupcakes.

I have yet to make those cupcakes, but oh boy do I want to. I think I might try sneaking in some of that yummy maple butter in a cupcake or cookie somewhere. Might be a nice alternative to frosting?

Yeah, I wasn't so crazy about the maple frosting recipe in VCTOTW. I think maple butter would be nice.
