The Vegan Dad Cookbook

"This is the dad you always wanted, only he makes a better meatloaf." -Isa Chandra Moskowitz

Making vegan food the whole family can enjoy seems like a daunting task. No more! The Vegan Dad Cookbook contains over 120 recipes that take kids’ food beyond the veggie dog. From brunch to dinner, Vegan Dad has you covered with dishes from around the world as well as good ol’ fashioned comfort food. This book provides the answer to that daily question, “what’s for dinner?”

Downloads of the cookbook are available at Lulu.com for $10. The book is 144 pages, full colour, indexed (the best I could), and contains selected recipes from my September 2007 to June 2008 blog postings. If you would like to purchase a copy but don't have a credit card, send me an email at the address listed in the bottom right hand column of the blog.

Please note that the .pdf file is formatted for 2-sided printing.

(I decided against the paper copy because it would have cost about $5o.)

Here is a pic of the copies I printed and bound for my family.

This is excellent! Do you include nutritional information?

Congratulations on finally getting it finished!
I will be honest, I do not intend to purchase it since I just browse recipes online, but it is so great to see that the option is no available.
Keep up the wonderful work!

Can you provide a table of contents, or list of recipe names? How many pages is it? Does it need to be printed in color?

Vegan Dad said...

Erin,
No nutritional info, sorry.

Puzzler,
Lulu provides a preview of the first 10 pages of the book, whihc includes the Table of Contents (which lists every recipe). The book is 144 pages. It looks best on colour (but I realize now that it makes things more pricy), but can be printed in grayscale. The pictures of the food look far less appetizing, but the necessary is all there.

Just bought mine. I have checked every book retailer on or near our Air Force Base and couldn't find one vegetarian cookbook. It's great to have yours!

Congratulations! What a great pull-quote from Isa, too.

I'm hoping to buy one sometime in the future, but my Christmas-buying has already gotten out of hand so I need to rein in until January.

Too broke to buy a copy at the moment but I went to the site and previewed it and WOW!!! I am so impressed!!! I LOVE the format and the pictures, MUCH more appealing than so many (supposedly "professional") veg*n cookbooks I already own!!!
Definitely be getting this after the holidays!

Yay! I can't wait to download this, but need to wait for a couple of sales to go through paypal. Good thing you're selling digital copies, or I think you'd sell out before I got a chance to grab one!

Did I miss something?I thought this was gonna be a bound book to purchase. I only have a black laser printer. Color printer is way too expensive for as much as I print daily.

Boo hoo. Maybe someday. I just had to replace computer-so now broke and hub retired too.

Hey Dad, I bought the book from Lulu and downloaded it, but it does not include the cover. I put in a help ticket with Lulu, and they told me the cover was not part of the download!! Could you please e-mail me a copy of the cover?

Thanks....

Vegan Dad said...

Jan,
The plan was to use Lulu so people could get a print copy or an e-copy. The price for the print copy is pretty steep ($50+) so I scrapped that idea. I know for next time not to do full colour for everything.

Speedwell,
Thanks for letting me know! I made the cover art a free download on Lulu, so you can go back and get it.

oooh i will download this at work where i have a printer!!!! I am so excited. Congrats!!!!!

Sparkpeople.com has a nutritional calculator for recipes. You put in ingredients and amounts, then # of servings and it gives you all the nutritional information. Very easy to use.

BTW, after I buy and download, can I take the printed copy to Kinko's for binding? Is that how you got yours bound?

Merry Christmas, and thanks so much for the wonderful book. I downloaded it immediately and made the Roast Seitan with Ginger Peach Stuffing and Glaze for Christmas dinner -- it was absolutely incredible, and while my family was skeptical about the seitan, the stuffing was an absolute hit. Christmas morning was also made extra-special by Pumpkin Spice Rolls. Thank you for filling the holidays with amazing recipes.

I just ordered my copy... it looks fantastic. I can't wait to print it out! I like finding recipes on the web, but sometimes it's just nice to have a real book to page through.

Congratulations on completing the cookbook! I just bought my copy; thank you Nathan (i now know your name). I am cataloging all of my recipes in an online recipe database (Gourmet from http://sf.net/projects/grecipe-manager/ ), comprised of many favorites found around the blogosphere, including MANY from vegandad...

To tip my hat and give you a little cash for your VERY appreciated efforts, I bought the book, even tho I could cull them from your blog. The layout and categorization you have done is great.

I must say, you are my favorite vegan recipe site I've found. From one vegan dad, hats off to THE VEGAN DAD.

The most popular "regular" in our house is the vegan lunch meat. This recipe is a must-try for anyone who likes to have a sandwich for lunch.

My friend just gave me your book as a Christmas present. I'm doing the red rice tacos w/citrus tofu and the lemon pudding cake tonight! A little too much of the tofu and gluten veggie meats for my tastes, but I'll work around that. Thanks for all the hard work. It's a beautiful book.

you can use a site such as Blurb.com to publish these kind of books and the user chooses the quality of paper and cover. I made a photo book for Christmas and it was excellent. Please do an update for 2012. I love your blog.
