Happy 4th Birthday, Son # 3

Today is my youngest son's 4th birthday. We watched some old family videos of when he was a baby and I got a little teary seeing how fast he is growing up. He will be off to school in September and has developed so much since he was a tiny 5 lb preemie 4 years ago. Sniff. Here is the cake he wanted (you can get cake pans at the library), decorated in the colours he wanted. Not my finest work (and the cake pans kind of stifle creativity), but he did not care. Whilst on the phone to his grandparents he said, "my Dad is making my castle cake and I love it!" I love you too, little buddy.

Aww, I love it when they say things like that. It makes it all worth it. My kids have, unfortunately, never had a cake that cool.

Cake pans at the library? That's one awesome library.

Ok, I think it is HILARIOUS that you mention getting cake pans at the library, because the library where I work is apparently one of the few libraries in Kansas that does NOT check out cake pans. And we have people calling in all the time asking if we check out cake pans, so it's become a running joke. :)

Thanks for giving props to your library - and you never know what you will find! And the cake looks super delicious!!

Not your best work! It's beautiful. I've never been any good at decorating cakes with frosting. Happy birthday to your son.

Our youngest children are the same age, and like you, I can't believe how fast time has been flying by!! Seems like just yesterday they were tiny little infants who depended on us for everything......now, independence is the name of the game!!

Happy birthday to you sweet vegan guy!!

If this isn't your finest work, you should be extremely proud.

They do grow up fast!

How did you make vegan colored frosting?

Wow, you can get cake pans at the library near you? Now that's something I'll have to investigate at mine!

You can get cake pans at the library?? As in the regular ole library where you check out books, dvds, etc? As a certified librarian, I find this very interesting!
p.s. GREAT JOB on the cake!

Cake pans at the LIBRARY? That is brilliant. It makes a lot more sense than buying several different shaped pans you'll use maybe once or twice, then never again...

That's an awesome cake! And I'm so impressed that you can get the cake pans at the library. Not around here, unfortunately...
Happy birthday! I also have a son who just turned four last month, it's a fun age....

If this cake is BAD work for you... well... I guess it only leaves me with one question: where does one go to find a cake decorating class?
