Happy Chinese New Year!

Sunday is Chinese New Year, and since I know next to squat about good Chinese cooking, you need to head over the Chow Vegan for an amazing spread of nine dishes to make your own New Year's feast. I only wish I could find egg-free wonton wrappers and yuba sheets so I could make all of this stuff!

I keep looking for eggless wrappers and haven't found them yet. Perhaps from scratch?

I once found them at an Asian grocery, but I had to ask for them in advance.

I agree with the frustration at not being able to find the eggless ones! However, I do want to say THANK YOU do Vegan Dad for the AWESOME Boneless Chickenless Wing recipe!! I made them for the SuperBowl and my omni husband (and I!) couldn't get enough!! Delicious!!!

And, they freeze beautifully, so you can make a big batch at once!

Oops. Also meant to say, you can often find just about everything you need at www.asianfoodgrocer.com. I just checked, and they're currently out of stock of dried yuba sheets, but they do carry them. Enjoy!

hey there! i just wanted to say that your blog is amazing and made my life as a vegan SO much easier :D

anyway, my family's always been making dumping and wonton wrappers from scratch and from experience, eggs aren't necessary at all. a dough made from just water and flour works just fine :)

I have been able to find egg-free wrappers at Asian markets.

Happy New Year! Thanks so much for the post and link! Sorry to hear you're unable to find the wonton wrappers or yuba sheets. If you like, I'll mailed you a couple packages of dried yuba sheets. I can't on the wonton wrappers as they're either frozen or refrigerated. Just let me know. :-)

Vegan wontons... I am always shocked to see "wonton wrappers" being called for in vegan cookbooks. I live in NYC and have checked many, many Asian groceries. Can't find egg-free ones! It is so frustrating!

I haven't been able to find any egg-free wonton wrappers at places like Whole Foods or the local food co-op, but I've invariably had good luck finding eggless ones at Asian markets.
